FXCA april update
april 2010 update
Hope you had a good Holy Week and a joyful Easter celebration. I had the privilege of being with all fourteen of our family in Cuba, the first time in 27 years I’d been away from home for Easter! It was a very different experience, celebrating Jesus resurrection in Spanish, in a socalist country a long way from home.
There is an excellent article about the mission-shaped Parish of the Resurrection, South River, Newfoundland, in the current edition of the Anglican, (scroll to page 7 to read it.)

This excellent six-session course can be freely downloaded and presented in your neighbourhood. A pastor who had taken the course with eight of his members, told me how significant taking the course had been for his church. “The entire leadership team from our church, The Living Room, attended Mission Shaped Intro. Although our church is already quite missional, MSI helped us advance the dialog regarding our expression of church. It also helped us face some old paradigms we weren’t even aware we had. Whether you’re part of an established traditional church or part of a new emerging church, Mission Shaped Intro will help you rethink and reach out in fresh ways.” Michael Jones, Lead Pastor, The Living Room, Montreal, QC.

We need your stories of what’s going on in your area, to put on the FXCA website. Stories of attempts to start something new, something which may stand a chance of developing into a fresh expression of church. Here is an example of what we are looking for, from Peterborough, ON, something that started as a result of a casual remark. Is it a fresh expression of church? I guess we’ll have to just wait and see! Please send your story with photos to email@example.com
Please pray for all of us involved in encouraging “the development of fresh expressions of church alongside more traditional expressions, with the aim of seeing a more mission-shaped church take shape throughout the country.” Yes, it’s a huge job, but with God nothing is impossible, even though it is seldom easy!
Thanks so much for your interest in Fresh Expressions Canada. If you would like to support the work financially you can do so by clicking here and filling out the form, selecting “Other,” from the “I would like to direct my gift to:” options, and writing Fresh Expressions in the “Please Specify” box.

Yours in the risen Christ,
